- Co-authored RealNLR, accepted to two NeurIPS 2026 workshops (VLM4RWD, Pre-training to Post-training) and under review at ICLR 2027.
- Built RealNLR, a benchmark of nonlocal visual reasoning, where answers depend on linking distant regions of real images.
- Fine-tuned five VLMs (4B to 32B) with QLoRA on synthetic puzzles, lifting in-distribution accuracy 13 points on average.
- Found near-zero transfer to RealNLR: synthetic fine-tuning does not teach VLMs general nonlocal visual algorithms.
